Accept vs Except

I am glad you were able to except my invitation. incorrect
I am glad you were able to accept my invitation. correct

Except is usually a preposition ("They have invited everyone except me.") or a conjuction ("They would have invited you except they didn't know your telephone number.")

The verb meaning 'to take something that is offered' is accept.

Compare : "I accept all your proposals except the last one."
